It's Fashion Resolutions for 2021
It's already the end of the first week in January, and if you're anything like me this year you still haven't made your New Year resolutions yet, at least not officially!
Yes in the past, I've done the "work out every week" pledge or "dry january," but those never really last and let's face it, are just more of the same old, same old resolutions. So I thought, let's make resolutions this year that are so much easier, way more fun and let's be honest, doable!
...Behold Fashion Resolutions!
But I wanted to keep it simple, so I am focusing on my Top 3! These have always been a part of my conversation at in-person events, so if you've spoken with me you probably already can guess what I am about to say. If you haven't met me, I hope these help in general and so you can finally say, you held true to your resolutions. Let's get started...
Fashion Resolution #1: Embrace Color
Do you know how many times I've heard women say, oh I love that color, but I'll just get the black one, it goes with everything. Ugh! is all I have to say. Of course, that key little black bag is fine, but you don't have to rely on it for your everyday bag ALL the time. And besides you know you have at least 1-3 black bags in your closet already.
And after the year we've had, I say go bold. Now bold doesn't have to mean bright, just not your basic neutral. The key is too look in your closet and find the 1-2 colors (outside of your neutrals of course) that stand out. It could be green, blue, pink, red, yellow, orange, well you get the picture.
Now find accessories in that color hue 1) you know it'll match your outfits and 2) it'll brighten your mood almost instantly.
Fashion Resolution #2: Shop Ethical Brands
Okay, if you are like me, sometimes you can get confused on what the term "ethical" really means in relation to fashion. Of course, most refer to it when talking against underpaying and overworking employees in factory settings. But the interpretation runs a large gamut of answers.
In the end, there's a few things we can agree on. It’s time to put an end to the fast fashion era. And we’re all for supporting companies that do better for the earth and their employees, right!?! Okay, obviously this includes us (Brynn Capella Handbags) but there are a ton of ethical brands out there, you just might not find them at the mall.
Of course, it can be hard because most ethical or sustainable brands can be more expensive than others, but that brings me to resolution number 3.
Fashion Resolution #3: Invest in Quality Classics
When I was young, it was always about how much bang can I get for my buck. But after I turned 30 and then 40 and so on, I realized I actually wanted my items to last more than one season. Besides the whole landfill issue, you’ll appreciate having well-made classics in your wardrobe, items that are unique (not mass-produced) and garner so many compliments.
The key here is not focusing on "trends," but what works for your lifestyle and your body structure. And just remember, animal prints used to be trends, now they are definitely classics!
One of the best parts about fashion is how much fun you can have with it at any age. The overall idea is versatility, quality and style.
So here's to 2021, may it be brighter, more sustainable and make it a year to invest in YOU.
